COVID-19 Impacts to Travel Offerings

Several suppliers and destinations have temporarily suspended operations amid COVID-19 concerns.

Supplier Suspensions

The following suppliers have suspended cruise, tour, and/or package operations, with plans to resume operations on the dates listed below:

  • Abercrombie & Kent: Operations have resumed. Abercrombie & Kent is continuing to assess future travel operations on a destination by destination basis around the world. If your upcoming travel plans are affected, an A&K Travel Consultant will contact you or your travel professional to discuss postponing your journey, approximately 30-45 days prior to departure.

    • As Holland America Line continues to review and assess its plans around the Canadian Transport Ministry’s Interim Order that closed Canadian ports and waters to passenger vessels, the company is extending its pause of cruise operations to now include all sailings that depart from or conclude in a Canadian port in 2021. This will include several Alaska, three Canada/New England and two Pacific Coastal cruises in summer and fall of this year. It also includes all Land+Sea Journeys.
    • The following ships will be leaving the Holland America Line fleet: AmsterdamMaasdamRotterdam, and Veendam. Holland America Line’s newbuild Ryndam will be renamed to Rotterdam. Guests who are currently booked on a cruise aboard these ships will be contacted by Holland America Line with more information.

    • Odyssey of the Seas May 9 to October 28, 2021 sailings departing from Rome (Civitavecchia), Italy have been cancelled. Odyssey of the Seas was to resume operations beginning June 2nd, 2021 out of Haifa, Israel. However, due to the unrest in Israel and the region, we have not been able to complete the preparation required to operate and as a result, sailings out of Haifa will be cancelled.
    • Adventure of the Seas sailings from June 5 to October 14, 2021 have been cancelled. Instead of offering sailings from Barcelona, Spain, Adventure of the Seas will now offer sailings from Nassau, Bahamas beginning June 2021.
    • Vision of the Seas sailings from June 6 to August 29, 2021 have been cancelled. Vision of the Seas was to resume operations from Bermuda beginning June 2021. However, in anticipation for our U.S. return to service and following overwhelming feedback from our guests, the summer season in Bermuda will be cancelled.
    • Jewel of the Seas sailings from June 7 to October 31, 2021 have been cancelled. Instead of offering sailings from Northern Europe; Barcelona, Spain; and Boston, Massachusetts, Jewel of the Seas will now offer sailings from Limassol, Cyprus beginning June 2021.
    • Anthem of the Seas sailings from June 4 to August 29, 2021 have been cancelled. Instead of offering European sailings, Anthem of the Seas will now offer Ocean Getaways and British Isles itineraries from Southampton exclusively for UK residents.
    • Radiance of the Seas sailings from July 2 to September 24, 2021 have been cancelled. Radiance of the Seas was to resume operations from Vancouver, Canada and Seward, Alaska beginning July 2021. However, a new bill has been signed to allow us to sail to Alaska without the normal requirement of an additional stop in another country. As a result, these sailings will be cancelled.
    • Serenade of the Seas sailings from July 4 to July 11, 2021 have been cancelled. A new bill has been signed to allow us to sail to Alaska without the normal requirement of an additional stop in another country. Instead of departing from Canada, we’ll now have roundtrip Alaskan sailings departing from Seattle, Washington.
    • Ovation of the Seas sailings from July 2 to August 6, 2021 have been cancelled. Ovation of the Seas was to resume operations from Seattle, Washington beginning July 2021 before completing Hawaii and Transpacific itineraries in September 2021. However, a new bill has been signed to allow us to sail to Alaska without the normal requirement of an additional stop in another country. As a result, these sailings will be cancelled.
  • Scenic Luxury Cruises: August 1, 2021
    • The Scenic Eclipse Arctic season from June 1, 2021 to September 30, 2021 has been cancelled. The East Coast USA Adventure (701U) departing on September 27, 2021 has also been cancelled.
  • Seabourn Cruises: Dates vary by ship
    • Seabourn has reviewed the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC) Framework for Conditional Sailing and is seeking additional clarification to fully understand the requirements. While they wait further information, they have (temporarily) stopped selling all cruises eight days and longer which call upon a U.S. port and depart January 1 through November 1, 2021. For those who are currently booked on one of these cruises, they ask for your patience to receive further information from Seabourn on whether you cruise is impacted.
    • As a result of the Canadian Transport Ministry’s Interim Order that closed Canadian ports and waters to passenger vessels, the brand is cancelling its 2021 Alaska/British Columbia departures. The cancellation announcement applies to a total of 19 voyages scheduled aboard Seabourn Odyssey in summer 2021 between Vancouver, Canada and Juneau, Alaska, including one Pacific Coast voyage at the end of the season.

    • Select 2021 departures on Viking JupiterViking SeaViking SkyViking Star and Viking Venus have been cancelled.
    • Further departures to AlaskaRussia and Ukraine have been cancelled through the 2021 season
    • Viking is looking forward to welcoming guests back on board in Bermuda and Iceland in June. These Welcome Back voyages are exclusively available for vaccinated guests. While travel entry requirements may continue to evolve, Viking Ocean Cruises are currently working with the respective government authorities to confirm what exactly will be required of our guests when it is time for their voyage. More information about these requirements, as well as all health and safety protocols, will be provided to guests booked on these sailings in advance of their departure so they may adequately prepare.”

Destination Suspensions

  • Australia: Due to COVID-19, the U.S. Department of State has issued a Level 3: Reconsider Travel advisory for Australia. Australia has barred all non-residents and non-Australians from entering the country.
  • Bahamas: Due to COVID-19, the U.S. Department of State has issued a Level 4: Do Not Travel advisory for The Bahamas. A negative COVID-19 test and Travel Health Visa Application are required to enter the country.
  • Brazil: Due to COVID-19, the U.S. Department of State has issued a Level 4: Do Not Travel advisory for Brazil. Brazil requires all air travelers to provide a Traveler’s Health Declaration and negative COVID-19 test. Land and sea borders are closed until further notice.
  • Canada: Due to COVID-19, the U.S. Department of State has issued a Level 4: Do Not Travel advisory for Canada. All non-essential travel to Canada is restricted. Air travelers must provide a negative COVID-19 PCR test for entry.
  • China: Due to COVID-19, the U.S. Department of State has issued a Level 3: Reconsider Travel advisory for China. A negative COVID-19 test is required for entry. Entering travelers must quarantine for 14 days after arrival.
  • Costa Rica: Due to COVID-19, the U.S. Department of State has issued a Level 4: Do Not Travel advisory for Costa Rica. Air travelers must provide proof of medical insurance policy and complete an online Health Pass.
  • El Salvador: Due to COVID-19, the U.S. Department of State has issued a Level 3: Reconsider Travel advisory for El Salvador. Travelers must provide a negative COVID-19 test for entry. Travelers who have been in the United Kingdom or South Africa within the last 30 days are not allowed entry.
  • European Union: United States citizens on non-essential travel are restricted from entering most European Union countries.
  • French Polynesia: Due to COVID-19, the U.S. Department of State has issued a Level 3: Reconsider Travel advisory for French Polynesia. Effective February 1, 2021, travel to French Polynesia is temporarily suspended for tourists from all origins until further notice.
  • India: Due to COVID-19, the U.S. Department of State has issued a Level 4: Do Not Travel advisory for India. Travel to India for tourism and/or other short-term purposes is not permitted. A negative COVID-19 test is required for entry.
  • Indonesia: Due to COVID-19, the U.S. Department of State has issued a Level 4: Do Not Travel advisory for Indonesia. Valid visas/residence permits and a negative COVID-19 test are required for entry.
  • Israel: Due to COVID-19, the U.S. Department of State has issued a Level 3: Reconsider Travel advisory for Israel. A negative PCR COVID-19 test is required for entry.
  • Japan: Due to COVID-19, the U.S. Department of State has issued a Level 3: Reconsider Travel advisory for Japan. Non-essential travel for tourism and other short-term purposes to Japan is not permitted.
  • Malaysia: Due to COVID-19, the U.S. Department of State has issued a Level 4: Do Not Travel advisory for Malaysia. U.S. citizens are not permitted to enter the country. A negative COVID-19 test and mandatory quarantine are required for entry.
  • Mauritius: Due to COVID-19, the U.S. Department of State has issued a Level 3: Reconsider Travel advisory for Mauritius. A negative COVID-19 test is required for entry.
  • Mexico: Due to COVID-19, the U.S. Department of State has issued a Level 4: Do Not Travel advisory for Mexico. Nonessential travel across the Mexico-U.S. land border has been temporarily restricted.
  • New Zealand: Due to COVID-19, the U.S. Department of State has issued a Level 3: Reconsider Travel advisory for New Zealand. Non-citizens and non-residents are barred from entering the country.
  • Panama: Due to COVID-19, the U.S. Department of State has issued a Level 4: Do Not Travel advisory for Panama. A negative COVID-19 test is required for entry.
  • Peru: Due to COVID-19, the U.S. Department of State has issued a Level 4: Do Not Travel advisory for Peru. A negative COVID-19 test is required for entry.
  • Trinidad and Tobago: Due to COVID-19, the U.S. Department of State has issued a Level 4: Do Not Travel advisory for Trinidad and Tobago. Nationals and non-nationals are barred from entering the country. A negative COVID-19 test is required for entry.
  • Russia: Due to COVID-19, the U.S. Department of State has issued a Level 4: Do Not Travel advisory for Russia. Foreign nationals are not permitted entry into Russia.
  • Saudi Arabia: Due to COVID-19, the U.S. Department of State has issued a Level 4: Do Not Travel advisory for Saudi Arabia. U.S. citizens are not allowed to enter. The Saudi government is not issuing tourist and other category visas at this time.
  • Seychelles: Due to COVID-19, the U.S. Department of State has issued a Level 4: Do Not Travel advisory for Seychelles. Cruise ships are not permitted entry into Seychelles waters until further notice. U.S. citizens are barred from entering the country. Travelers from approved countries must provide a negative COVID-19 test for entry.
  • Singapore: Due to COVID-19, the U.S. Department of State has issued a Level 2: Exercise Increased Caution advisory for Singapore. Short-term visitors are not allowed entry unless they have a valid approval letter. Permanent residents returning to Singapore will be issued a Stay-Home Notice.
  • South Africa: Due to COVID-19, the U.S. Department of State has issued a Level 4: Do Not Travel advisory for South Africa. Travelers must provide a negative COVID-19 test for entry.
  • Thailand: Due to COVID-19, the U.S. Department of State has issued a Level 2: Exercise Increased Caution advisory for Thailand. Travelers must provide a negative COVID-19 test for entry.
  • United Arab Emirates: Due to COVID-19, the U.S. Department of State has issued a Level 4: Do Not Travel advisory for the United Arab Emirates. Travelers entering the United Arab Emirates must have a tourist visa and proof of a negative COVID-19 test.
  • United Kingdom: Due to COVID-19, the U.S. Department of State has issued a Level 4: Do Not Travel advisory for the United Kingdom. Travelers to the United Kingdom must provide journey and contact details, and most visitors are required to self-isolate for 14 days.
  • Effective August 6, 2020, The United States Department of State has lifted its Global Level 4 Health Advisory, which advised U.S. citizens to avoid all international travel due to the global impact of COVID-19. The Department is returning to its previous system of country-specific levels of travel advice (with Levels from 1-4 depending on country-specific conditions), in order to give travelers detailed and actionable information to make informed travel decisions. The Department continues to recommend U.S. citizens exercise caution when traveling abroad due to the unpredictable nature of the pandemic.
  • Vietnam: Due to COVID-19, the U.S. Department of State has issued a Level 2: Exercise Increased Caution advisory for Vietnam. U.S. citizens and all foreigners are not permitted to enter the country.
  • Zimbabwe: Due to COVID-19, the U.S. Department of State has issued a Level 2: Exercise Increased Caution advisory for Zimbabwe. A negative COVID-19 test is required for entry.
