Information about the REAL ID

Starting May 7, 2025, travelers aged 18 and older will need a REAL ID-compliant document to fly domestically. Acceptable documents include state-issued driver's license or ID cards with the REAL ID marking (a star or similar), or alternative forms of identification like a valid passport.

To get a REAL ID, you must visit your local DMV and provide the documents required for this. It can take about 2 weeks or 15 business days to process this. Plan now to get your REAL ID if you want to fly domestically.

This full day tour takes you deep into the beauty of the Yukon Territory to see first hand how mush dogs are trained in the summertime without snow.

Yukon Dog Sledding & Musher's Camp Excursion from Skagway

Departing from Skagway's glacially carved coastline, you will ride over the coastal mountain range through the White Pass Summit Area known as the Tormented Valley. Here begins the adventure of a lifetime: the Yukon Dog Musher Adventure Tour in Skagway.

Making your way across the northwest corner of British Columbia and into the southwest corner of the Yukon, you will savor majestic mountain vistas, pristine lakes, and crisp, clean air. A photo stop will be made at Emerald Lake before traveling on to Caribou Crossing Trading Post and Museum. During this tour, you can relax and enjoy a tasty Yukon-style lunch, visit one of the most spectacular wildlife museums in North America, and visit a dog musher's camp. The museum's exhibits range from Ice Age specimens to animals more recently introduced into the Yukon. Also included are exotic animals from both the arctic and sub-arctic regions of Alaska and the Yukon, as well as from around the world.

The highlight of this Skagway excursion may be your visit to the mushing camp at Caribou Crossing, where mushers train their dogs for the world's toughest dog sled race, the "Yukon Quest." You will spend 30 minutes in the camp - double the time allotted to most other tours! Your time in the camp includes a 20-minute presentation on the art of mushing, including how they train in the summer without snow, followed by a five to six-minute ride with an experienced dog sled musher over cut trails in a dog cart pulled by racing huskies. All too soon it is time to begin the approximate two-hour drive back to Skagway.

Please Note: All tour stops are subject to change based on weather and road conditions. This Skagway cruise tour will be crossing the Canadian border and then back across the U.S. border. All U.S. citizens traveling between the U.S. and Canada are required to present an original copy of their birth certificate or passport, and a valid government issued driver's license or ID card. People of all other nationalities are required to have a photo I.D., a passport, and visa (if required). Please check for updated customs requirements prior to traveling.

All minors must be accompanied by a legal guardian. Restroom stops will be made on the drive to and from Caribou Crossing; facilities are very basic.
