Information about the REAL ID

Starting May 7, 2025, travelers aged 18 and older will need a REAL ID-compliant document to fly domestically. Acceptable documents include state-issued driver's license or ID cards with the REAL ID marking (a star or similar), or alternative forms of identification like a valid passport.

To get a REAL ID, you must visit your local DMV and provide the documents required for this. It can take about 2 weeks or 15 business days to process this. Plan now to get your REAL ID if you want to fly domestically.

Witness the mesmerizing process of transforming metal into a unique piece of art, a tangible memento to forever commemorate your unforgettable journey in Alaska. This hands-on experience doesn't just teach you art: it connects you to Alaskan culture and nature.

Alaskan Metal Art Workshop

Unleash your creativity and capture the essence of Alaska in our special metal art excursion, a unique 2.5-hour experience in the picturesque port of Sitka, Alaska. This class is perfect for adventurers who want to engage in a hands-on activity that blends art and the awe-inspiring Alaskan landscape.

Your artistic journey begins with a safety and project overview, ensuring a fun and secure experience. Under the guidance of skilled instructors, you'll learn to use a 2-inch die grinder to smoothly texture a piece of cold rolled steel. Feel the thrill of making sparks fly as you gear up with all the provided safety equipment, transforming a dull gray steel piece into a shimmering masterpiece.

The excitement continues as you shape your metal salmon or halibut using a teardrop mallet, creating a 3D artwork complete with flapping tails and gills. This hands-on approach brings your Alaskan salmon to life, ready to adorn any wall with its authentic charm.

But the magic doesn't end there. You'll heat things up with a propane torch, bringing out stunning hues of bronze, purple, and blue from the steel. This process not only adds color but also ensures your fish is a one-of-a-kind Alaskan keepsake, as thrilling as the views of Sitka Sound.

Throughout the class, you'll immerse yourself in discussions about local salmon species, fishing techniques, and metal finishing processes.

Here's your chance to take home an amazing catch from Alaska that you'll cherish forever. Book now for a unique opportunity to capture the Alaskan spirit through art, all from the heart of Sitka's beautiful port.
