Information about the REAL ID

Starting May 7, 2025, travelers aged 18 and older will need a REAL ID-compliant document to fly domestically. Acceptable documents include state-issued driver's license or ID cards with the REAL ID marking (a star or similar), or alternative forms of identification like a valid passport.

To get a REAL ID, you must visit your local DMV and provide the documents required for this. It can take about 2 weeks or 15 business days to process this. Plan now to get your REAL ID if you want to fly domestically.

Step away from urban life and embrace the gaucho lifestyle at one of Buenos Aires' finest estancias -- a perfect escape to unwind and relish the genuine essence of the countryside.

San Antonio De Areco and Ranch Visit

Your journey unfolds as we meet up with our tour guide for a full-day expedition through the gaucho region of Argentina. Board the bus for a delightful two-hour ride to the northern reaches of San Antonio de Areco, traversing farms and glimpsing the vastness of the pampas along the way.

Around midday, we will arrive at the town and make our way to Estancia El Ombu. There, a warm reception awaits, featuring traditional Argentine empanadas (filled pastries) to enjoy with the Estancia staff. Settle in to watch local gauchos showcasing their ranching prowess, rodeo and ring race skills, and impressive herding displays.

Following this spectacle, you will set out on a leisurely horseback exploration of the ranch grounds. Afterward, relax with lunch as we revel in a lively gaucho party featuring captivating music and dance performances. The typical gaucho lunch, featuring asado, chicken, ribs, and more, adds a flavorful touch to the experience.

Post lunch, we will delve into the diverse activities at Estancia El Ombu. Amidst the serene pampas, many options abound, including more horseback riding, sulky (horse cart) rides, rustic walks around the ranch, and a range of recreational offerings such as a large swimming pool, ping pong tables, soccer, volleyball, and bicycle tours.

As the day of enjoyment winds down, we bid farewell to the ranch and return to San Antonio de Areco for a guided tour. Our exploration includes a visit to Plaza Ruiz de Arellano de Areco, named after the rancher who founded the town in 1728, offering insights into its rich history, before the ride back to Buenos Aires.
