Information about the REAL ID

Starting May 7, 2025, travelers aged 18 and older will need a REAL ID-compliant document to fly domestically. Acceptable documents include state-issued driver's license or ID cards with the REAL ID marking (a star or similar), or alternative forms of identification like a valid passport.

To get a REAL ID, you must visit your local DMV and provide the documents required for this. It can take about 2 weeks or 15 business days to process this. Plan now to get your REAL ID if you want to fly domestically.

Hampden Estates History And Rum

Day Trip, Group Tour
Offer Image
Join us on an extraordinary expedition to the very core of a bustling distillery on the grounds of the magnificent Hampden Estate. Witness the 260-year-old rum-making process, followed by an exquisite tasting of some of the island's finest rums.

Hampden Estates History and Rum

Journey through time at the Hampden Estate to discover a distillery steeped in tradition, with origins stretching back to 1753. Uncover the secrets of a rum-making heritage that has spanned over two and a half centuries, and taste the unique character of the award-winning Rum Fire and Hampden Gold rums.

Your adventure begins at the Hampden Great House and Estate, a place where history lingers in the air. This vast sugar plantation, established by Mr. Archibald Sterling from Scotland in 1753, is a veritable time capsule of colonial ambition. The house itself has stories embedded in its walls, having been a storefront for rum until the early 20th century. The estate is also home to the 19th-century Hampden Presbyterian Church, the denomination's first church on the island. The estate's offerings expanded again in the First World War, adding the Hampden Wharf in Falmouth to ship its products.

During the tour, you will do a deep dive into the flavorful world of rum, beginning with a welcoming Rum Punch or the estate's special Hampden Iced Tea. While here, you will learn the plantation's storied past, wander through the enchanting grounds, and be treated to a behind-the-scenes look at the distillery where the rum-making process continues today as it did 260 years ago. Take a moment to sample the iconic, potent white Rum Fire and the exquisite Hampden Estate Gold, and enjoy straight-from-the-stalk sugar cane juice or coconut water. Round out your experience with a sumptuous lunch of jerk chicken accompanied by two festivals (Jamaica's signature fried dumplings).

Please note: guests under 18 will not be able to participate in the distillery segment of the tour. Comfortable attire and sturdy walking shoes or sandals are highly recommended. Bring your camera to capture the memories, along with sunscreen, insect repellent, and either cash or a credit card for souvenir purchases. Join us for a day at Hampden Estate for a sip - or two - of authentic Jamaica.
